Church Leaders
Ordination and ClergyTrainingChurch of England OrdinationWTC are currently in discussions with the Church of England's Ministry Division with a view to offering training for Church of England ordinands beginning in September 2012. The Centre already has a strong working partnership with the New Wine movement and it is hoped that this new programme will help bring the life, energy and wisdom of New Wine churches to the service of the whole church. This training will build on our 5 years' experience of lay training and a 4-year partnership with Ridley Hall and St Paul's Theological Centre when we helped train a group of Pioneer Ministers in London. Rev Annie Kirke, was one of that group, and this is what she says about her time with WTC:
Training as a Pioneer Ordinand on a mixed-mode course with WTC was a perfect match for me. The theological teaching was excellent: deep, robust, challenging, contextual, progressive and Spirit-led. I found myself encountering God in the classroom every week and my faith, character and leadership were developed through what I learnt and then put into practice in my ministry context. I am indebted to WTC for creating a way for someone like me to develop a Kingdom theology which I can translate every day in participation with the Holy Spirit in every 1:1 encounter and community I find myself. We currently have 223 students, many of whom have already told us they are interested in ordination training or they are in the selection process already. Utilising our distinctive Centre-Hub delivery model, we propose to offer weekday training suitable for graduates based at these regional Hubs, following a course which leads to the award of a graduate diploma and MA (validated by the University of Chester). The pattern of study we offer has allowed busy clergy to continue to deepen their theological understanding and enhance their leadership skills. This course has enlivened my teaching/preaching by both refreshing my theological education and taking me deeper in my spiritual life. It is giving me a desire to go deeper and pursue what it is to be authentically ‘Church’ and a disciple of Christ. After 20 years since starting at theological college this course is adding fresh understanding and equipping me to lead the church with greater confidence, as a person in who I am and to lead from a view of the integrity of Scripture. The faculty bring a rich experience of lived-out theology and the envelope of worship in which everything takes place is dynamic.
